This Week in Agility Research: Dec. 4, 2015

Here are a few items of new agility-related research that popped up on our radar this week. 

Surveying the Organizational Agility on Gaining Competitive Advantage in Iranian Dairy Industries

Nowadays by removing physical boundaries among organizations and countries, lots of organizations tend to be more agile and try to meet their customers' needs as soon as possible. For this mean, attending to agility and accelerating processes may create some competitive advantages for the organizations. The main goal of the current research is to survey the influence of organizational agility on gaining competitive advantage in Iranian Dairy. The results of applying structural equation model illustrated that organizational agility, accountability and flexibility affect significantly and positively on gaining competitive advantage in Iranian Dairy industries.

Agility in Project Management

Project management is seen as an effective way to deliver one-time initiatives, often in unstructured environments. Effective application of project management principles in such environments often provide significant return on value; obvious examples are the launch of a new product in a startup environment, the consolidation of systems in a merger and managing a project during a disaster-recovery effort. Most often, agile project management is equated with managing an agile development project (iterative project). However this paper wishes to explore what being agile means to a project manager.

Talent Management: Preparing a “Ready” Agile Workforce

The Use of Mindfulness in Dealing with Ambiguity During Transformational Organizational Change

Change leaders rely on personal coping and project initiation strategies, ongoing guidance and support, agile and action-oriented approaches, courageous and bold leadership, and trust in their process to manage ambiguity for themselves. To help others deal with ambiguity, change leaders repeatedly articulate the change vision and direction and demonstrate confident, strong change leadership. Mindfulness appears to enhance leaders’ abilities to interact with others, maintain perspective, and attune with others’ emotional states. Mindful change leaders appear to more frequently practice self-awareness and self-care, seek professional advice and assistance, and exercise an agile, action-oriented approach to leading change as ambiguity coping mechanisms.

Possibilities of Usage of Strategic Business Intelligence Systems Based on Databases in Agile Manufacturing

Organizations must have the ability of responding quickly to predictable and unpredictable changes in the market. Organizations’ ability to adapt to the fast changing conditions depending on the differing requirements of the customers, depend to a great extent on their ability to become agile. Since change and ambiguity always exist and always will in future, the necessity of the organizations to understand these changes in environment conditions quickly and to be able to respond gains importance every passing day. In this work, information is tried to be provided with the literature scanning about the possibility of usage of data warehouse and data base architecture during agile manufacturing process and with business intelligence tools.
